Every time another food or drink related study is released I am more convinced that the healthiest things I can do is enjoy what I am eating and drinking. While moderation shouldn't hurt anyone, at least in theory, I am about to increase my coffee intake -drastically.
I love coffee. Real coffee. A nice strong cup of fresh ground coffee is my morning ritual, every day, 365 days a year. But that has been my limit for decades, ever since I read a story about 30 years ago that detailed the negative health effects of coffee. At that time I was drinking about 10 cups a day and it was hard to almost cold turkey, but, soon I was at a cup a day and that is the way it has stayed.
Now a recent report says that drinking coffee can reduce your risk of getting several types of cancer, including, neck and head cancers. It can reduce the risk of prostate cancer by 60%. It can keep your brain sharp long after the grey cells should be wilting away. Contrary to long held beliefs that coffee can increase your risk of stroke, it seems it actually reduces it.
Another cup anyone?
