According to a latest research, a huge number of parents still continue to give OTC medication for cold and cough to their young children. This is a clearly ignoring and violating the clear labeling required by FDA to prevent use of such OTC medications in young children.

While research has linked over the counter cold and cough medication to hundreds of deaths by poisoning, a CS MOTT Children Hospital data reveals that 61% parents admitted to giving these prescription drugs to their child under the age of 2 at least once last year.
Most OTC medication clearly states on labels that they are "not to be used" on children under a minimum age. This research thus reveals that most parents do not even bother to read the label while administrating the OTC medication to their children.
