More then $209 billion in annual branded pharmaceutical sales are expected to go off-patent in 2011-2012. Big name prescription drugs including Advair, Viagra, Seroquel, Zyprexa, Symbicort, Singulair, and Lexapro are among them. At the same time, the international generic market is expected to grow by 9% annually to reach $129 billion by 2014, and between $135-150 billion by 2015. Goldman-Sachs estimates big pharmaceutical companies may lose up to 49% of their business to generics by 2015.
Generic pharmaceutical companies such as Genmed Holding Corp. are positioning for aggressive growth in the coming decade as they prepare to apply for additional drug licenses that will become available in the near future. Genmed is a US and Dutch based company that delivers low cost generic drugs throughout the world.
